Hebrews 2:14-15—“Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, so also He Himself partook of the same things, that through death He might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.” (ESV)

December can be a hectic month. Between visiting with family and friends, trying to wrap up projects before the year’s end, and the many Christmas celebrations, it’s sometimes hard to remember the reason we celebrate the birth of Christ: His coming to redeem us. In the midst of filmmaking, it can also be difficult to remember why we make movies: to tell that redemption story to the people working with us and those who will watch the film. Christmas presents a special occasion where people often are more open to hearing the Gospel. What an opportunity we have before us this month to tell others about why Christ came!

Christ’s advent, while peaceful in its representation, was much more than just His coming. His purpose was to redeem His people and deliver us from slavery to sin and death through His own death. Christ, the One through whom all of creation was made, humbled Himself to redeem each of us and unite us with God the Father! Our job in response to His grace to us is simple: to tell others of Him. We are called to tell everyone around us, whether they’re friends, family, coworkers, or audience members, of our fallenness as sinners, of Christ’s birth, His death, resurrection, and the gift of eternal life with Him.

We at CWVFF pray you will enjoy this wonderful Christmas season and courageously accept opportunities to share the Gospel through your films and in personal relationships. “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21 (ESV)
